Where the streets have their names: Leicester stars could earn unique reward for league success

A place to take shelter from the poison rain, we suppose.

A YEAR AFTER Leicester City were beaten and blown by the wind, trampled in dust at the bottom of the Premier League, the streets could soon have their names if they go on to lift the title.

That’s according to the city’s mayor, Peter Soulsby, who revealed that the city council has been inundated with requests to honour the team — Jamie Vardy in particular — after their incredible run this season.

He told The Times:

It has been a real team effort, so as well as Vardy Vale we would need to have Schmeichel Street, Drinkwater Drive and Ranieri Road.

“Leicester has honoured its sporting stars in the past. There is an area named after golfers and there is also a Lineker Road [named after Gary Lineker].”

There’s every chance the Foxes get the job done too as they now sit seven points clear and could win the title in three weeks if results go their way.

With over 10,000 people gathering in Leicester city centre after the club won promotion to the Premier League in 2014, many times that are likely to show up to mark a Premier League crown.
